Christian Walsh's Story
I was born and raised in Northern California. In Sonoma County (the wine country), in a town of about 35K called Petaluma (P-Town) for short! Growing up, P-Town was known for being the Egg capital of the world (We have an annual parade called Butter and Eggs Day) and the wrist-wrestling capital of the United States (we have a statue). I am happy to say, I have been in Texas for 17 years and both of my kids were born here! I was very active while growing up, playing football and baseball through high school and then some in college.
After graduating high school, I went to Sacramento State University and then College of Marin, where I played baseball for 2 years. By the end of my second year at College of Marin, I had started working at FedEx Ground loading trucks at 4 AM in the morning to pay my way through college. Little did I know that job loading trucks would turn into a career that would move me all around Northern California with five promotions in 10 years.
As I climbed the corporate ladder, into Senior Management, and running 3 buildings at the senior management level, my last position, before I moved to Houston was running very large Reno facility that had 65 Delivery trucks and 18 Tractor trailers making over the road trips to from the Triples pad in Reno through the Sierra Nevada mountains to the Sacramento Hub.
In 2007 I was recruited away from FedEx and relocated to Houston! About 1 month later, my first son was born…(yes, both of my kids are Texans, through and through!). A couple of years later, I was recruited away from the company that moved me here by Wal-Mart, Pharmacy Division, where I worked as a Senior Operations manager in their first Central Fill [pharmacy. There, I was responsible for writing all the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Building security, Creating and developing the Quality Assurance department, Administration and accounting as well as managing a team of approximately 50 employees.
After 8 years at Wal-Mart, I took a director position at FedEx as a Senior Assistant Hub Manager. In this role, I grew the operation from approximately 300 employees that worked 5 days a week, to over 600 employees that worked 7 days a week. I increased package sortation in this process from approximately 45K a night to over 100K per night (a 122% increase each night). Our facility was awarded the “Hub of the Year” award. Did I mention I was working the Graveyard shift? Graveyard shift is tough for anyone at any company, but at FedEx it was more than that. 10PM to 10AM was the minimal expectation, except I was never off at 10AM. It was more like noon or later. 14-hour shifts were the norm. I was exhausted to say the least. In a conversation with my wife, she could see the exhaustion and frustration on my face and she asked, “what do you really want to do?” Due to all of the promotions and relocations I had with FedEx, the real estate process always fascinated me. At that moment, we decided I would go back to school and get my realtor license!
From day one, I have loved being a Realtor! I love helping my clients find the perfect home or helping them sell their home for top dollar! My 20 years working in a corporate environment for 2 of the largest Fortune 200s in the country has made me a different and more valuable Realtor for my clients. How so? Working for the Fortune 200 corporations has given me the business acumen necessary to understand ALL of my client’s needs and desires while making sure their goals in the transaction are accomplished. Aside from the contract negotiations I was responsible for in my previous corporate life, I have also continued education in Real Estate, earning designations is Short-Sale and Foreclosures (SFC), Military Relocation Professional (MRP), and last, but not least, my favorite Certified Negotiation Expert (CNE)!
At the end of the day, my sports background and my very successful corporate background motivate me to “WIN” every transaction for my clients!
